Statistics show that one in four people are likely to suffer sexual violence at some point in their lives. Tell other people of our work - because your support will help others to survive.

Helpline training courses

Two or three times a year we run Helpline training courses for new batches of helpline volunteers (HVs).

Become A Helpline Volunteer

Volunteer assistance is always needed. Are you a good listener? Can you spare 2½ hours on one evening, approximately once every 3 weeks? We run a fresh course of in-house training sessions for new voluntary helpers approximately twice a year.

Initial training takes approximately six weeks, followed by three months of supervised Helpline volunteering. Ongoing support is given, and once fully trained there are additional workshops throughout the year to complement the knowledge and work being undertaken. No prior experience or qualifications are necessary, but references will be required and we shall need to perform an enhanced CRB check at the start of your training.

We are very supportive, dedicated group of people. If you are interested in more information about becoming a helpline volunteer please contact our office by phone or e-mail, or download the Job Description and Application Form below. If wishing to apply for our next course, return the completed application form, either by post or by e-mail attachment to our office address (if e-mailing, please send with the subject title ‘Helpline Application’).
