RASASC (Guildford) - Foreign Texts
As part of its efforts to relieve the distress of anyone who has suffered
sexual assault and educate the public in the problems of sexual abuse, the RASASC website
has included basic foreign language descriptions of its services since 2003.
Ethnic minorities, young foreign workers and temporary British residents with poor English
language skills can find themselves in a doubly vulnerable position in the event of any sexual
assault. Cultural and language barriers inevitably make it more difficult for them to obtain
the proper assistance and support needed to help them survive the experience and recover their lives.
A useful leaflet 'Victims of Crime - Support And Advice' is also available to download in 8 languages
(English, Welsh, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu) from the
Criminal Justice System
website.
About RASASC - English Text
The Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (Guildford, UK) is a charity organisation.
Rape or sexual abuse can affect people in many different ways.
Often there is no one for the person to turn to, no one with whom to share their anxieties.
Sometimes it is easier to talk to a skilled helper.
Someone who can be relied upon to listen carefully and sympathetically, without making judgements.
The services offered are as follows:
-
A telephone Helpline open Sunday to Friday from 7.30pm until 9.30pm
where you can talk to someone who understands.
A face-to-face counselling service. Daytime and evening sessions are available.
Support groups led by professionals for victims who have been abused.
Ongoing support sessions for parents, partners and family of victims of rape or abuse.
The services are offered in strict confidentiality, normally speaking in English.
